Zambian police officer rejects US$50 000 bribe….Awarded a trophy as token of appreciation for her commitment
The Zambia Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday honoured detective sergeant Ruth Nyambe for refusing a bribe from a suspect intercepted at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport.
The suspect, who was travelling from Lusaka to a known destination carrying US$2 million and pieces of suspected gold, initially offered Ms Nyambe US$5,000, later increasing the amount to US$50,000 in exchange for being set free.
She rejected the bribe, reported the matter to the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC), and the case proceeded to court.
ACC director general Daphne Chabu congratulated Ms Nyambe for her integrity and commitment to duty.
*Comments*:

If we don’t appreciate good deeds, then we are encouraging bad deeds in our society.
This woman deserves a promotion with immediate effect and not the ACC Integrity Award alone. That way, we shall encourage more people in the country to stand firm on what is right.
