Guruve murder suspect Zvitsva arrested after intense manhunt
GURUVE – The manhunt for suspected Guruve serial killer Anymore Zvitsva has dramatically ended after he was arrested in Guruve just minutes ago, sources on the ground have confirmed.
Zvitsva, 32, had been the subject of one of Zimbabwe’s most intense manhunts in recent years, with police and army units deployed across Mashonaland Central following a wave of killings that left at least 12 people dead since mid‑December A.
Police had earlier warned that anyone assisting or harbouring him would face arrest, after reports that some relatives were supplying him with food and information during the search B C.
Arrest details still emerging
Details of the arrest are still filtering in, but early indications are that Zvitsva was apprehended during a coordinated operation involving security forces and local community members.
Zvitsva had been linked to multiple killings, including the brutal murder of five members of the same family at Ona Farm on 11 December B. He was also wanted in connection with additional killings in the Magaya and Nyakapupu areas, which plunged the district into fear and forced villagers to abandon their fields D E.
Community relief after weeks of terror
Guruve residents, who had been living under lockdown‑like fear with army patrols, drone surveillance and canine units sweeping the area F A, expressed relief as news of the arrest spread.
For weeks, the district had been paralysed, with villagers staying indoors and schools and farms operating under heavy tension.
Police expected to issue statement
The Zimbabwe Republic Police is expected to release an official statement shortly confirming the arrest and outlining the next steps in the investigation.
Zvitsva is expected to face multiple murder charges.
