South African Soldiers, Police Recover Stolen Ford Everest Driven Straight Into Limpopo River

The South African National Defence Force (SANDF), particularly 1 South African Tank Regiment, teamed up with the Border Police Reaction Team from the South African Police Service to recover a luxury Ford Everest XLT worth around R940,000 from the Limpopo River.

 

In a statement, Captain Moses Semono said members of the South African Police Service, carrying out crime-fighting operations near the border in the Musina area, spotted a vehicle driving straight into the river.

 

The SAPS members then drove to Malala Road, where soldiers were busy with Vehicle Control Point Operations to ask for back-up. Added Semono:

 

“Because of the timing and poor visibility as it was already late in the evening of the 05th January 2026, the joint operation was postponed to the morning of the 06th January 2026. Needless to say, the scene of crime had to be guarded overnight.

 

“The following morning, the vehicle was then successfully recovered with the assistance of a civilian company.

 

“The vehicle was recovered to the South African Police Service pounding area.

 

“Upon circulation, it was discovered that the vehicle was reported stolen on the 31st of December 2025 in Bela-bela in Limpopo and registration on the vehicle is a false one.

 

“The Officer Commanding Joint Tactical Headquarters Limpopo Colonel Dikgabane Herold Tladi commended the members for the job well done.”
