Harare City Acquires FC Hunters Franchise In US$600,000 Deal | Report
Harare City Football Club has reportedly acquired the FC Hunters franchise in a deal valued at US$600,000.
Under the agreement, Harare City will bring selected members of the Hunters executive into their management structure and take on seven players who were still under contract with Hunters.
The owners of Hunters are reportedly considering ways to revive the club, either by joining the Eastern Region Division 2 or by taking over Harare City’s current place in the Northern Region Soccer League.
A source close to the negotiations told Zimpapers Sports Hub that the deal is expected to be officially announced soon. Said the source:
“The deal will be announced officially soon. I can confirm that the two clubs have agreed on principal terms.
“Chief among the negotiations was the welfare of the players who still have a running contract with FC Hunters.”
In 2025, MWOS acquired the ZPC Hwange franchise to take part in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.
Harare City appears to be following a similar approach after failing to regain its PSL status since being relegated at the end of the 2022 season.
