Headmaster attacked in bar, ‘O’ level exam slips stolen

The headmaster of Chikwere Secondary School in Odzi allegedly lost 2025 Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) O-Level result slips following a robbery in Dangamvura, Mutare, on Monday evening.

According to The Manica Post, the school head, Tizai Gwazhi (49), had just collected the results from the ZIMSEC offices in Mutare and stopped at a bar in the high-density suburb for drinks.

He also lost his cellphone after two assailants attacked him while he was on his way to a friend’s home.

ZIMSEC released the results at noon on Friday, 16 January 2026, and made them available online for candidates to view a few hours later.

Speaking to journalists, ZIMSEC board chairperson Professor Paul Mapfumo said the results would remain accessible on the ZIMSEC portal for five days. He added:

“Please take note that this portal will be open for five days only. Heads of examination centres will be able to collect the results for their respective schools or centres from our regional offices on Monday, 19 January 2025.”

Candidates who do not have smartphones or other devices to access the internet will have to collect their results slips from their schools after they have been collected by the headmasters.
