Former Chegutu Municipality HR in Dock for Criminal Abuse of Office

Former Chegutu Municipality Human Resources Manager, George Kasamu has been remanded out of custody to January 28, 2026 for continuation of the trial by a Kadoma Regional Magistrate, Ignatius Mugoba, on allegations Criminal Abuse of Office.
It is the State’s case that on May 18 2021, Chegutu Municipality advertised for 14 municipal police vacancies, to which 170 applicants responded.
Out of the 170 applicants Chegutu Municipality recruited 16 and from those recruits three did not meet the minimum 5 ‘O’ Level subjects passes as stipulated on the advert. Tjeir illega recruitment led to the arrest of Kasamu, then Human Resources head.
Two state witnesses have so far testified as the trial continues.
Kasamu,who is now Chegutu Municipality Chamber Secretary was arrested by Zacc agents.
