Prophet Jailed 15 Years For Sodomy_
A 24-year-old self-proclaimed prophet from Chief Nyashanu in Buhera, Manicaland Province, has been sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment by the Bindura Regional Magistrates’ Court for the aggravated indecent assault of an 11-year-old boy.
The court heard that on 18 November 2025, in Chief Rusambo’s area of Rushinga, the victim had been sent to meet the offender at a bus stop and accompany him to a nearby homestead for prayers.
During the journey, the offender told the child that a “black spiritual bird” was following them and would attack.
At the homestead, the offender insisted on sharing a room with the boy. The following night, he removed the child’s clothes, pinned him down, and sexually assaulted him.
Afterwards, the offender gave the boy US$2 and instructed him not to reveal the incident, claiming the money was for bus fare to visit his shrine at a later date.
On 20 November 2025, the victim disclosed the abuse to his mother, who reported the matter to the police, leading to the offender’s arrest.
