Chamisa a dead corpse says former opposition MP

NELSON Chamisa’s return to the political scene has attracted criticism, with erstwhile colleagues putting his head on the chopping block.

After a two-year political hiatus, Chamisa recently announced that he was bouncing back to lead an opposition movement.

His return became a focus of criticism at the launch of the Chegutu Ward 1 by-election campaign over the weekend, with former opposition figures now turned ZANU PF members taking turns to criticise Chamisa.

Former opposition legislator Blessing Chebundo described Chamisa as a dead corpse.

“Keep following Chamisa; it is no different from flies that follow a corpse into a grave,” said Blessing Chebundo.

Gift Konjana, who is vying for a councillor’s seat on a ZANU PF ticket, said the opposition is devoid of a leader.

“The opposition does not have direction. The opposition is leaderless,” said Konjana.

Chebundo and Konjana are among the former Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) members who fell out of favour with Chamisa after he took the reins of the opposition movement.

Chamisa has also been at odds with former opposition members who have been questioning his leadership qualities following the disintegration of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC).

Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, Ziyambi Ziyambi, commended former opposition members for contesting positions in the ruling party.

“We want to build ZANU PF so that everyone comes back to the ruling party. The President is happy when former opposition members contest for positions. These men can destroy the opposition completely and make ZANU PF greater than what it is today because of their experiences,” said Ziyambi.
