Witchcraft or What?: Tenants Flee Nine-Roomed Masvingo House After Mysterious Stone-Throwing Incidents
Tenants at a nine-roomed house in Masvingo’s ZBS suburb have fled the property after a series of unexplained stone-throwing incidents left them shaken.
The bizarre events were reported at house number 4191, ZB Stands, where stones were said to have hit the roof at all hours of the day and night, despite no one ever being seen throwing them.
Former tenants told Masvingo Mirror the disturbances began last Monday night, when they were jolted awake by the sound of stones crashing onto the roof.
The house, which had been home to five tenants, now stands empty after nearly a week of repeated incidents.
One former tenant, who asked not to be named, described the experience as terrifying. He said:
“Stones were being thrown during the afternoon and evening without anyone being visible. It was terrifying.”
In a bid to find answers, the tenants sought the help of a local spiritual healer, popularly known as a Madzibaba, who blamed the disturbances on dark spiritual forces.
By around 7 AM on Sunday, all the occupants had packed up and left. They said stones continued to rain down on the house even as they were loading their belongings, with no one ever seen throwing them.
The property owner, Muchaneta Zingoni, believes a family dispute may be at the centre of the mystery.
She suspects her nephew could be linked to the incidents following a fallout with his father, who later moved to Harare after returning from South Africa and is said to have disowned him.
Zingoni said the nephew has struggled with substance abuse and had lived at the house alongside the tenants, but ongoing family problems meant he could no longer stay there.
The matter has since been reported to the police, who say investigations are underway.
