Zifa Mashwest Boss Welcome Directive On Coaches’ Qualifications

The new directive from the football mother body,Zifa, that all coaches from the third tier up to Premier Soccer League be Caf certified has been seen as a move in the right direction by Zifa Mashwest Provincial League Executive Chairman and has said that the province was ready to see that all the coaches attain a requisite badges to sit on the technical benches.
Derrick Matapuri said that the previous Level One- Level Three is now outdated and have been phased out for a new and better as football is now being done in a scientific way.

“As a Zifa affiliate, we’ve received the directive to the effect of changes in the qualifications for our coaches that starting the 2026 soccer season all teams must have coaches with Caf badges and we’re ready to comply which is a good move towards modernizing how we run our football,we need to have standards in terms of how our football is run in the entire country,we don’t have any difficulties having coaches with higher qualifications in each and every club, that’s the norm and everywhere you go either regionally or internationally there are minimum coaching qualifications and standards.
We’re doing away with the courses dzakare idzo,ana Level One up to Level Three,they have been phased out,the syllabus has changed due to scientific way being implemented into football,CAF D has now a better syllabus which goes with modern scientific approach!”said Zifa Mashwest Boss.
Zifa Mashwest province has about 60 clubs affiliates, in Division Two but most coaches from those clubs still hold the outdated Level One and Three making it difficult for clubs as the 2026 soccer season beckons.

But , however Zifa Mashwest Boss has to revealed that the province will run a10-day CAF D Coaching Course very soon in time for the 2026 soccer season.
“So far we’ve over 75 coaches from across the province who have paid to undergo a 10-day CAF D Coaching Course to be held in Kadoma and Chinhoyi very soon,so as a province we’re in line with upgrading of our provincial coaches in line with the development of football,look Mashwest have three clubs in the Premier Soccer League and in the Northern Region Division One nearly half of the clubs are from our province and this makes us proud!”

The country’s mother body through Acting General Secretary, Norman Gwagwadza,recently released the Coaching Qualifications and Licensing memo that will apply during the 2026 soccer season for the Premier Soccer League, Zimbabwe Women’s Premier Soccer League, Division One, Division Two and Women’s leagues clubs to have a CAF badge.
