43-year old landlady jailed 17 years for raping tenantβs 4-year-old son
A 43-year-old landlady from Vumbachikwe Mine has been sentenced to 17 years in prison by the Gwanda Magistratesβ Court after being convicted of aggravated indecent assault against a four-year-old tenant.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the offence occurred in late November 2025, when the woman coerced the child into sexual activity.
The abuse came to light after the victim attempted to imitate the act with his seven-year-old brother.
Concerned, the childrenβs mother and a neighbour questioned the boy, who revealed that the landlady had subjected him to similar abuse.
The matter was immediately reported to the police, resulting in the womanβs arrest.
A medical examination of the child was conducted, and the findings were presented in court as evidence.
