From private functions to a public stage performance, the evolution of Denilson Musekiwa
Avondale’s 7Arts Theatre was rocking at the weekend as Zimbabwean saxophone maestro, Denilson Musekiwa, made his maiden public concert with Sax and Rose.
Known for performing at private events and exclusive sessions, Musekiwa’s first public showcase proved he could command a stage with skill, charisma, and a touch of theatrical flair.
From the outset, the venue buzzed with anticipation.
The atmosphere was electric, an expectant hush, as everyone waited to see how the man behind the sax would translate his private mastery into a public spectacle.
Musekiwa made an unforgettable entrance, literally flying onto the stage, saxophone in hand, instantly captivating the audience.
The dramatic entrance set the tone for the evening, signalling that this was more than a concert, it was an experience.
Each note he played resonated through the theatre, weaving a melodic tapestry that connected seamlessly with the night’s other performers.
“He did exceptionally well,” said Mavis Chikafa, one of the fans who attended the show.
“The combination of Denilson’s sax and the singers was just incredible.
“We need more of these concerts — it’s something Harare should experience regularly.”

Musekiwa is one of Zimbabwe’s most talented saxophonists, known for his soulful performances at private events and exclusive gatherings.
At the weekend, he marked a new chapter in his career with his first public concert and he shared the moment with those closest to him.

Feli Nandi, with her soulful energy, set the audience alight with her emotive vocals.
She effortlessly blended with the saxophone, creating moments of pure musical intimacy that drew audible gasps from the crowd.
Next on stage was Tamy Moyo, whose performance was marked by poise and charisma.
Her energy was infectious and she held the audience’s attention throughout her set.
Every note she sang was amplified by the emotional depth of Musekiwa’s saxophone, creating a fusion of sound that had spectators swaying and singing along.
Rounding off the supporting acts was Delroy Shewe, whose smooth tones and commanding stage presence offered a perfect counterbalance to the night’s energy.
