InDrive driver counts losses after sheltering sex worker in his cab

An InDrive driver is counting his losses after he lost his car keys, and money, after giving a sex worker shelter in his cab in the early hours of yesterday morning in Harare.

The driver, who chose to remain anonymous, gave the sex worker shelter in his car along Nelson Mandela Avenue in the capital.

He claims he fell asleep in his car and the sex worker, who has been identified as Miriam Mahove, allegedly stole his car keys and money.

The driver claimed Mahove demanded US$100 for her to give him back his car keys.

This prompted him to seek help from a locksmith who charged him US$30 for a replacement set of keys.

Speaking to H-Metro, the driver recounted the events which led to the standoff, which attracted a sizable number of people.

“I was waiting for clients when this lady approached my vehicle around 4 am.

“I eventually fell asleep while she sat on the passenger seat.

“When I woke up, I realised my car keys were missing and she denied taking them.

“She was the only one in my vehicle, yet she refused to return the keys and demanded money instead.

“When other people started questioning her, she again denied taking the keys.

“For the record, I did not hire her for sex, as some people were suggesting.”

Miriam, who was wearing a very revealing outfit, also confirmed that the two did not have sex.

“I was with him during the night, he is my friend,” she told H-Metro.

“When we were about to leave for my house in Belvedere, he claimed to have misplaced his car keys.

“We never had sexual intercourse, contrary to what some people are saying.”

As tensions rose, some members of the public accused Miriam of trying to extort the taxi driver. They also accused her of targeting drunk men who drink at a nearby nightclub.

She denied the allegations. *_-H-Metro_*
