Moyo Responds to 2030 Strategy Claims
Professor Jonathan Moyo has clarified a leaked audio clip initially thought to be a recording of him detailing a legal strategy to Zanu PF leaders on President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s 2030 plan to extend his rule.
He says he was actually talking to lawyers – Zibusiso Ncube and Method Ndlovu – not ruling party officials as widely thought.
The lawyers had called him on December 16, 2025, over the court application by Ibhetshu LikaZulu and one of its leaders, Mbuso Fuzwayo, challenging the then anticipated constitutional amendments in advance.
Moyo explains to whom he was speaking to, who he thinks recorded him and why; the agenda and motive of their actions.
The circulating audio features Moyo purportedly outlining a political and legal “strategy” to Zanu PF 2030 movers to trigger a collusive early Constitutional Court litigation to facilitate the deal by working with the courts in a contrived case.
The goal was to use a “credible organisation” to seek judicial clarification on term-limit provisions and the 2030 agenda before any formal constitutional amendments were made as that was the right timing before public uproar over the issue. Moyo challenges social media interpretation of his remarks, and provides a detailed context and background to the audio, characters involved and their motivations with supporting messages and audios.
INVERACITIES ON SPEAKERPHONE: The Desperate Hoax about “2030ist Leaders”
The usual social media busybodies are peddling a desperate smear: that I was “overheard” supposedly advising “2030ist leaders” allegedly on how to suppress media coverage and opposition to the Constitution Amendment Bill No. 3. Pure fabrication.
These are not mere lies. These are brazen inveracities — based on distorting an illegally recorded and surgically edited audio, weaponized by incompetent desperado accounts with rogue ‘intelligence’ fingerprints all over them.
The audio in circulation was made without my knowledge or consent on 16 December 2025 via speakerphone during a call initiated by Counsel Zibusiso Ncube in cahoots with Advocate Method Ndlovu.
Not one word in it is about “suppressing” anything. Zero. Not media, not opposition, not the Bill.
Theirs ain’t strategy — it’s criminal desperation from people who’ve lost it, and are now resort to crude and illegal wiretapping to feed their fake news, packaged as “intelligence” allegedly from sources high up! NewsHawks
