Magaya’s “Prayer Mountain” Set For Public Auction Over Mounting Debts

Several properties belonging to Walter Magaya, the founder and leader of Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) Ministries, are scheduled to be auctioned in Harare this Friday, 27 February.

The auction, which includes approximately 30 properties, is being conducted by the real estate firm Graham & Douglas following instructions from the Sheriff’s Office of Zimbabwe.

Among the notable assets listed for sale is Magaya’s well-known “Prayer Mountain.”

There had been conflicting reports suggesting that Magaya’s multi-million dollar Yadah Hotel and the adjacent Heart Stadium in Waterfalls were also on the chopping block at the Raylton Sports Club auction.

However, a representative from the auctioneering firm clarified the situation to H-Metro on Wednesday, saying neither the hotel nor the stadium is included in the current sale. The official was quoted as saying:

“The hotel and the stadium are not part of the properties set to be auctioned.

“The two prime properties set to be auctioned are the Prayer Mountain and a house in Prospect.”

Among the properties belonging to the cleric scheduled for auction is Stand 166 Smuts Road in Prospect. The 3.2323-hectare estate has a six-bedroom house, a lounge, a dining room, and dedicated staff quarters.

The Smuts Road property is registered under Planet Africa (Private) Limited, a company in which Magaya and his wife are listed as directors. It is held under Deed of Transfer No. 407/6118, dated 27 July 2018.

Also listed for the hammer is an 8.7146-hectare property situated at No. 6 Caledon Avenue in Prospect, Waterfalls.

The legal battle between Planet Africa and GetBucks Microfinance Bank dates back to June last year. The bank approached the High Court seeking to liquidate Magaya’s estate to recover a debt totalling US$420,140.72.
