Prophet Shiri arrested for heavily beating his pregnant wife

KWEKWE – Well known Simabvu Shiri (37) is remanded in prison for heavily assaulting his pregnant wife Trishia Samantha Maphosa (28) who went into premature labour a few days later and gave birth to a baby who died within a few hours.

Shiri is the founder of Spring of Living Waters Church headquartered in Kwekwe.

The assault happened last Sunday and Shiri was arrested on Thursday at his house in Mbizo 4, Kwekwe. He appeared in court on Friday for initial remand and his trial starts next Wednesday.

Midlands Police Spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the arrest to Masvingo Mirror.

Shiri has a history of violence. In 2024 he was sentenced to 12 months in jail for assaulting congregants.

The State case is that Shiri assaulted Maphosa and threatened to kill her and her unborn child.

“It is alleged that Shiri’s eight months pregnant wife Trishia Samantha Maphosa made a Police report that she was physically assaulted by her husband who also threatened to kill her and her unborn baby.

“The complainant was admitted at a local hospital on Wednesday last week and she had a pre-term birth. The baby died the following day,” said Mahoko.
