Bindura Man Jailed For Posting Vulgar Using Ex-Girlfriend’s Social Media Accounts

The Bindura Magistrates’ Court has convicted Kudakwashe Lordship Tengende (24) of cyberbullying and harassment after he unlawfully accessed his ex-girlfriend’s social media accounts and posted an obscene audio message intended to humiliate her.

The 29-year-old victim and Tengende had been in a relationship but parted ways following a misunderstanding on 2 February 2026.

After their split, Tengende withdrew a cellphone he had given the victim, and did not give her the chance to log out of her Facebook and TikTok accounts.

Two days later, on 4 February 2026, Tengende accessed the victim’s accounts and posted an offensive audio message visible to more than 3,500 followers. The victim began receiving numerous calls from followers alerting her to the post.

Although she deleted the message, Tengende reposted it several times until she removed it for the fourth time. The matter was eventually reported to the police, leading to his arrest.

Tengende pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 12 months in prison, with four months suspended on condition that he does not commit a similar offence.

The remaining eight months were suspended on condition that he completes 280 hours of community service.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) stressed that social media must not be used to humiliate, harass, or degrade others.

The NPA added that digital platforms are not lawless spaces, and those who abuse technology to settle personal scores will face the consequences of the law.
