Prophet rapes congregant at his shrine in Chiweshe, after fake promise of removing demons from the congregant’ stomach

A Chiweshe‑based apostolic prophet, Munyaradzi Chasi, has appeared in court after he allegedly raped a congregant at his shrine under the guise of conducting an exorcism.

Chasi (43) was brought before Bindura magistrate Charity Maunga facing rape charges.

The State, led by Carson Kundiona, told the court that on 4 March the complainant visited Chasi’s shrine in Chiweshe for prayers, accompanied by a co‑worker. After the two were prayed for, they left the shrine.

However, after walking some distance, the complainant told her colleague she wanted to return to collect healing oil from the prophet. She went back to the shrine alone.

Upon her return, Chasi was standing at his tobacco barn and instructed her to go into an abandoned room nearby to pray.

He followed her inside and claimed he needed to remove “evil spirits” from her stomach.

He then undressed the complainant and raped her.

The complainant later told her co‑worker what had happened, and a police report was filed, leading to Chasi’s arrtest.

He was remanded in custody to 18 March.
