The Government has been commended for organizing public hearings on the upcoming Amendment Bill No. 3. Public hearings to give citizens an opportunity to share their views and concerns before a law is passed.

As a human rights defender based in Kwekwe, Makesure Choga said he believes that the decision by the Government to consult the public is a positive step toward strengthening democracy and promoting transparency.

When people are given the chance to speak about laws that affect their lives, it helps build trust between citizens and the Government, he opined.

“Public participation is an important part of good governance. It ensures that leaders listen to the voices of ordinary people, civil society organizations, and community representatives,” he said.

” Through these hearings, different opinions can be heard and considered before the final decision is made.

“I therefore commend the Government for taking this step.

“Such initiatives encourage openness and allow citizens to feel included in the law-making process. It is important that these hearings remain accessible to everyone so that people from different communities can freely express their views.”

Choga said going forward, continued dialogue between the Government and citizens will help create laws that protect rights, promote justice, and serve the interests of the nation.
