ZRP Confirms Plane Accident In Zaka, Unusual Noises Heard Before Crash

Police have confirmed an aircraft crash that occurred on Sunday, 15 March 2026, at around 11 am in Nyoka Village, Zaka, Masvingo Province.

In a statement on Monday, Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said one person was killed and another injured when the plane, with two people on board, went down and was engulfed by fire.

Commissioner Nyathi added that the aircraft had been travelling from Komani Aerodrome in Mt Hampden, Harare, to Chipinda Pools.

It is believed the plane developed a mechanical fault and began making unusual noises before crashing into the forest.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ) is investigating to determine the cause of the accident.

Commissioner Nyathi said further details would be released in due course.
