SUBSTITUTE Junior Zindoga’s brilliant work led to an own goal, handing Zimbabwe a thrilling 1-0 win over Zambia in the Mukuru Four Nations Cup final.
The Warriors had a tough first half at the with Zambia dictating play and putting them on the backfoot.
At half time, the score was still 0-0, with Zambia’s captain Abraham Siankombo causing problems for the Zimbabwean defense.
Zimbabwe thought they had taken the lead just before the break, but Macauley Bonne’s goal was ruled out for offside.
The Chipolopolo continued to press, but Zimbabwe’s defense held firm.
In the second half, the Warriors pushed for a goal, with Jalai striking a powerful shot that was comfortably saved by the Zambian keeper.
Bonne and Bill Antonio had chances, but the keeper stood firm.
The game was turned on its head when Selemani was replaced by Junior Zindoga in the 64th minute.
The substitute made an impact, and his work led to an own goal in the 88th minute securing Zimbabwe’s 1-0 win.
The Zimbabwean fans, who dominated the stands, erupted in joy as the final whistle blew, celebrating their team’s first Mukuru Four Nations Cup title.
