WIFE NOW HOMELESS AS HUSBAND BRINGS PREGNANT LOVER HOME
A Harare woman has been living on the streets for five days after her husband brought another woman into their matrimonial home.
Mercy Mainoti has been married to Isaac Muinyani for over a decade.
But their seemingly happy marriage was turned upside down when he brought home his pregnant lover.
Mercy told the Harare Civil court that she was attacked and thrown out of their house.
“My husband brought a pregnant woman to the house claiming that he was marrying a second wife,” she told the Harare Civil Court.
“He started assaulting me and kicked me out of the house.
“I was forced to sleep outside for five days because he refuses to let me back into the house saying he cannot live with someone who is barren,” she said.
She went on to plead with the court for a protection order against her husband.
“I am unable to cope with the pain and this betrayal.
“I hope the court can grant my request for a protection order, I still love my husband.”
Isaac did not deny the allegations but said he no longer loved his wife.
“I got a second wife and I no longer want her to be my wife,” he said.
Presiding magistrate Meenal Naratom granted Mercy a protection order.
“The court will not tolerate such behaviour and Isaac must understand that his actions have consequences,” the magistrate said. *_-H-Metro_*
