In a Zifa Mashonaland West Division 2B match that initially seemed going the Rimuka Market FC way, fortune tables suddei turned in the second half as a determined VIP Stars clawed back to force a one-all draw which silenced the vociferous entourage of home team supporters at the ceremonial home of football in the mining city.

The Kagogo owned side, VIP Stars, was on the back pedal end in the early moments of the famous Sunday derby.
However, after conceding a goal in the first half, the troops looked to have regrouped and found a way to tame their more illustrious opponents after the breather.

The visitors managed to contain their hosts to finish the first half on a single goal deficit.
As fate would have it, no goal came from the marauding Market strikers in a bid to stretch their lead though they were in pencil chances of scoring on numerous occasions.

It was no longer comfortable, rather safe, to sail on a single goal margin considering the pressure combated by their northern side visitors in the second session of the match.
It was not surprising when a free kick deep on the left side found an unchallenged header from the right end into the net.

That was the seal on the match.

Market coach Luckson Soko acceded to their shortcomings.

“We had a much better chance to bury our opponents. It is our death of utility upfront that cost us. We should have done the complete job in the first half. Our strikers did not utilize those chances that came our way. In the second half, complacency took the match away from our grip.”

VIP Stars director and super player was more developmental in his response post match.

“We have a youthful side that we want to see scale greater heights. This is our way of nurturing and developing the talent we have.”

Asked on how it feels snatching a draw from the jaws of defeat, the ageless Kagogo, probably the oldest athlete in the league retorted, “We want to appreciate the point earned playing away from home.

“We’re grateful for the manner our players executed duty on the field of play. From now we focus on our next assignment,” said the beaming bundle of energy.

After the match, a host of fans remained glued to their seats in disbelief over the result that VIP Stars inflicted on their beloved Rimuka Market FC.

Matches resume beginning today until Sunday.
