20-Year-Old Man Convicted for Having Sexual Intercourse with a Grade 7 Student Repeatedly

The Karoi Magistrates’ Court has convicted a 20-year-old man for engaging in sexual intercourse with a minor.

According to a report by the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe, the incidents occurred in 2024 when the offender expressed romantic feelings to a seventh-grade student, who accepted his advances.

The two engaged in sexual activities multiple times. The case was brought to light on May 19, 2025, when the victim sneaked out of her home around 10 PM and went to the offender’s residence.

After returning home around 1 AM, her guardian noticed her absence and asked where she had been. This led the victim to disclose the situation.

A report was filed, which resulted in the arrest of the offender. In court, he was sentenced to 12 months in prison, with 4 months suspended for 5 years.

The remaining 8 months of his sentence will be suspended on the condition that he completes 280 hours of community service.
