Hurricanes Football Academy had no mercy for visiting Golden Valley FC yesterday afternoon as they ravaged through the valley to collect a maximum 3 points in a tightly contested Mashonaland West ZIFA Division 2B fixture here.

The Ingezi suburb domiciled team, who this season may arguably have made the right choice, migrating to Rimuka Stadium for their home matches, came out 3 – 0 victors.

Goals from Edmore Kasirori, Martin Nhubu and Malvin Nhubu are all the home side needed to seal their hard won victory.

Kasirori found the net after a corner kick on the right flank was poorly dealt with but find his expectant foot which pressed the ball in the net from close range in a packed goal area.

When Martin was set up about 25 metres from the line he let loose a ferocious footer that gave Golden Valley keeper, Scholastica ‘Scholar’ Dube, no chance.

Their third goal was sort of a candy gift from the experienced goalminder.

Scholar somehow failed to stop a harmless back pass from which Malvin heavily punished him for that schoolboy blunder.

In each instance, the three goals sparked frenzied celebration in the packed stadium, with fans invading the pitch thereby delaying match resumption.

Golden Valley were no pushovers as they put a spirited show throughout. They had the better exchanges in the first half only to falter soon after halftime substitution.

They however, remained resolute to find the back of the net, only for lady luck to elude them.

Before the match, Hurricanes Academy coach Takunda Magaya hinted on his team focusing on set targets.

“We playing our game. We had a target to go the first 10 matches without a loss. After that Match Week 3 (MW3) loss to Eiffel Flats, we reset the target, though with the same focus. We still want to stretch that target and move onto the next cycle on our radar. We’re happy with our performance and firmly believe we can do it as we’ve reclaimed pole position.”

His opposite number, Menard Mupera was conservative on their approach to the game and reproach on weaknesses.

“We feel disappointed losing today. We came to play our game though it didn’t fashion out well. The better side on the day won. Obviously we traveled for a win. Going forward, the team goes back to the drawing board to correct our mistakes and get back on rail. We cannot disclose which areas we will amend suffice to ensure we find our game.”
