CHINESE NATIONAL IN DRUGS STORM

A CHINESE national, who was arrested after police received a tip-off that he was allegedly dealing in dangerous drugs, has appeared in court.

Zheng Chunping was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare magistrate Ruth Moyo charged with unlawful possession of dangerous drugs.

Prosecutors claim that on Friday, at around 6:30am, detectives from CID Drugs and Narcotics, Harare, received information that Chunping was dealing in dangerous drugs, specifically crystal meth, at his home.

Acting on the tip off, detectives proceeded to Peachwood Village, along Cecil Road, in Harare, where Chunping stays.

The police waited for him at the entrance of the gated community and intercepted Chunping when he arrived in a black BMW X6.

The police introduced themselves and advised him of the purpose of their visit .

A search was conducted on him and the police allegedly recovered one sachet of the dangerous drug from his pocket.

Another sachet was recovered from the inside door panel of the driver’s seat.

 

Further searches were done in his house and nothing was recovered.

Chunping was subsequently arrested and escorted to CID Drugs and Narcotics where the drugs were tested and confirmed to be crystal meth.

Chunping was then arrested by immigration officials ,who intended to verify his immigration status in Zimbabwe.
