Kadoma City Council has launched a massive Central Business District (CBD) road maintenance and bay marking project aimed at improving traffic flow, safety and the general outlook of the city.

The exercise, which began last month, includes pothole patching, resurfacing of key roads, and repainting of parking bays and pedestrian crossings.

City Engineer Mr Blessing Musasira said the project is part of the local authority’s 2025 infrastructure improvement plan. “Our goal is to make the CBD safer and more organised, especially as traffic volumes increase,” he said.

Motorists and business owners have welcomed the move, saying it was long overdue.“It’s encouraging to see the council acting. Clear bays and smoother roads make a big difference for both drivers and customers,” said Mr Togarepi a shop owner.

The road works are expected to cover major CBD streets including Herbert Chitepo, Robert Mugabe,Mashonganyika and Colling street Road, with more areas to follow.

Mayor Cllr Nigel Ruzario has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing CBD road maintenance and bay marking project, describing it as a continuation of the city’s broader plan to modernise urban infrastructure.

“This initiative builds on the momentum we created with the successful launch of the prepaid parking management system last month,”said Cllr Ruzario.

He added that the improvements will enhance revenue collection, reduce congestion, and promote investor confidence.

“Well-marked bays and maintained roads show we are serious about urban renewal and service delivery,” he said.

The mayor also urged residents to embrace the changes and play their part in maintaining the improved infrastructure.
