Global petition for direct talks between Hamas leaders and Jewish organizations underway
Christoph Hoerstel (68), former 1st German TV Anchorman, war correspondent and expert for the Middle East and Central/South East Asia, triple book author and former peace mediator with the Taliban, has started a global petition to enable direct talks between Hamas leaders and Jewish organizations all over the world.
He says: “We have watched the secret service heads of four countries meeting time and again in Doha/Qatar: USA, Israel, Qatar, Egypt – but the results unfortunately could not stop the mass killing in Gaza, which now develops into additional mass starvation.”
Hoerstel has built ties to all sides of the conflict over many years, especially to Jewish peace groups and activists – and even to members of the Hamas politburo.
Hörstel says: “Jewish peace groups with honest solution proposals are ready to talk to Hamas – and Hamas is ready to talk to them, with very good chances for a reasonable commune stance.“
With this paper inked, reasonable pressure on the Israeli government could raise to a level, which makes peace unavoidable, says Hoerstel. But, as it turned out during the last year of diplomatic enquiries, recounts Hoerstel, main obstacle is finding a secure and quiet location for the talks.
Therefore Hoerstel decided to involve his small “Peace Circle Germany” group under his leadership to start a global movement in support for this highly promising round of talks for a lasting peace.
And what about the US? Hoerstel has a clear answer: “Trump not only has a typical American penchant for fairness, he has the political stature for such a historic solution. He is still at the beginning of his very ambitious presidency and is already taking very successful steps in the Ukraine conflict.
“Here, in the eternal Middle East conflict, he could win further laurels for America and his approach; lasting just peace for the region and Jewry worldwide.“
