Mberengwa Man Jailed 20 Years For Raping a 90 Year-old lady
A Mberengwa man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison by the Zvishavane Regional Magistrates’ Court for raping his 90-year-old neighbor.
The conviction follows a crime committed in June, in the Chief Bankwe area of Mberengwa.
According to the Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), the 50-year-old male assailant knocked on the victim’s door on the 11th of June, pretending to be her grandson.
When the elderly woman realized it was not her grandson and refused to open the door, the attacker forced his way into the house through a small opening.
“The victim realised that it was not her grandson through a small opening on the door and refused to open. The offender forcefully entered the victim’s bedroom, pushed the victim to the ground and had sexual intercourse with the complainant without her consent.”
The victim attempted to cry out for help, but her efforts were in vain.The following morning, she reported the ordeal to a neighbor who accompanied her to the police.
