HORROR IN CHIPINGE: Petrified villagers let ‘murderer’ walk free

CHIPINGE – A drunk Chipinge man stabbed a villager who refused to share his beer with him in full view of over 15 villagers who stood there petrified whilst the killer wiped his okapi knife before casually walking away.

Jenine Mukurukuji of Mahohona Village under Chief Mahenye in Chipinge stabbed Norest Mayengana (33) on Sunday afternoon around 3pm and casually walked away.

Manicaland Acting Police Spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka told Chipinge Times that Mukurukuji is missing and they are appealing for information that can lead to his arrest.

Circumstances are that Mayengana (33) was drinking opaque beer alone whilst sitting under a tree. Other villagers were seated nearby.

Mukurukuji who was drunk approached Mayengana and asked him for a sip of his beer. Mayengana refused to share his beer and a misunderstanding ensued.

Mukurukuji withdrew a knife from his pocket and stabbed Mayengana once on the back and once on the head at the occiput. Mayengana collapsed and died on the spot before getting any assistance.

After committing the offence, Mukurukuji casually walked away with his knife in hand. The villagers stood petrified.

Mayenga’s sister, Beauty reported the matter to the Police and officers attended the scene.
