Zanu PF Manicaland rallies behind 2030 resolution
ZANU PF’s Manicaland provincial structures convened an inter-district meeting in Mutare yesterday, solidifying key resolutions ahead of the upcoming 22nd National People’s Conference next month.
A unanimous call to extend the Presidential term beyond 2028 was among the highlights.
The meeting aimed to consolidate the party’s resolutions into a single document and evaluate the impact of previous decisions.
The National People’s Conference is set for October 13 to 18 at Mutare Polytechnic.
Zanu PF Secretary for Legal Affairs in the Politburo Cde Patrick Chinamasa expressed gratitude to President Mnangagwa for granting Manicaland the opportunity to host the Sanganai/Hlanganani/Kumbanayi World Tourism Expo and now the ZANU PF Annual National People’s Conference.
“We really want to thank President Mnangagwa for giving the province this rare opportunity to host two consecutive events of national importance.
“They will positively impact the people’s lives in Mutare and Manicaland as a province. We strongly appeal to you, National Commissar, to relay this message to His Excellency that Manicaland appreciates the gesture of love and goodwill shown by allowing us to host these events of national importance,” he said.
Cde Chinamasa said all cadres from Manicaland must rally behind the resolutions presented by the province.
“Two major things that enable development in any country are peace and unity. As Manicaland, we need to speak with one voice, rallying behind the resolutions that we have made for ourselves.
“We do not want anyone who will divert from what we have unanimously called for through our resolutions. As a province, we are happy with President Mnangagwa’s leadership and hence the call to have him as our leader up to 2030 and beyond.
“Anyone who seeks to disturb or derail this line of thinking is not part of us and is not welcome to us as a province,” added Cde Chinamasa.
Politburo member Cde Supa Mandiwanzira said President Mnangagwa was being chosen due to his track record of delivering on promises.
“When we are talking about infrastructure and economic development, President Mnangagwa has shown us as a nation that he is a champion on that front.
“This is the reason we, here in Manicaland, are speaking with one voice in supporting President Mnangagwa to stay put up to 2030 and beyond. We remain unwavering on our stance as a province and we are here to support the structures and systems that recognise our leader, President Mnangagwa, as the country’s President up to 2030 and beyond,” said Cde Mandiwanzira.
In his keynote address, Zanu PF National Political Commissar Cde Munyaradzi Machacha, who was the guest of honour, urged the province to extend the exemplary standards of hospitality displayed during Sanganai/Hlanganani/Kumbanayi World Tourism Expo to the party’s national conference.
“I have no doubt that the people of Manicaland have a deep sense of hospitality. We all saw how the province successfully hosted the Sanganai/Hlangani/Kumbanayi World Tourism Expo.
“We strongly appeal to you, comrades here in Manicaland, to extend the same spirit to the day of the ZANU PF National Conference. We are looking forward to a memorable conference that will once again show how hospitable the people of Manicaland are.”
Cde Machacha urged party cadres to show a great deal of discipline during the conference.
A breathalyser and other methods of detecting alcohol or drug consumption will be employed to bar intoxicated individuals from gaining entry to the conference venue.
“Let me take this opportunity to warn all malcontents who might want to attend the conference in their drunken stupor that they will not gain entrance to the venue. If one is found to have been consuming such substances, they will not be allowed inside the conference venue.
“In the same vein, allow me to urge all delegates that will be attending conference to show a great deal of discipline. Discipline, discipline, discipline!
“We do not expect to have any acts of misconduct during this conference, including those comrades among us who cannot sit and be steady throughout presentations. We will not tolerate that,” said Cde Machacha.
Minister of State for Manicaland Affairs and Devolution Advocate Misheck Mugadza said Manicaland was grateful to President Mnangagwa for the confidence he showed in them by making them host two events of national importance.
“We are now pledging not to let him down by ensuring that we host the party’s national conference successfully. We are working towards that and we have no doubt that we will deliver.”
Manicaland ZANU PF chairman Cde Tawanda Mukodza said preparations for the conference were progressing smoothly, with 95 percent of the venue upgrade work completed, while pledged financial donations continue to come in.
The party’s national conference is expected to provide a platform for delegates to discuss critical issues, including the economy, health, education, and drug and substance abuse.
