_Harare_ – Thursday’ National Real Estate Day unfolded at the Alex Park Sports Club under a buzz of professional chatter and a clear governmental message.

The event, held just one day after the official calendar date, brought together regulators, industry bodies, and practitioners to celebrate the sector’s role in delivering “Affordable Housing: A Right for Every Zimbabwean,” the theme that resonated across speeches.

Speaking on behalf of Justice Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi, Chief Director Tapiwa Godzi reinforced the ministry’s commitment to housing as a constitutional right. “Stiffer penalties against fraudulent operators are going to be implemented and I urge the public to verify agents before any transactions are done. Noting that this day is a reminder of the constitutional and developmental imperative to guarantee decent shelter for all citizens,” Godzi said.

The Real Estate Institute of Zimbabwe (REIZ) highlighted its 80‑year legacy, while the Estate Agents Council (EAC) and the Valuers Council of Zimbabwe (VCZ) pledged to uphold ethical standards and accurate valuations. Industry leaders emphasized sustainable construction practices, climate‑friendly designs, and the integration of digital tools to enhance transparency .

Solidarity speeches were made during the celebrations.

“We gather today at Alex Sports Club, not just to celebrate Real Estate Day but to reaffirm the spirit of solidarity that underpins every property transaction. The Deeds Office, as the custodian of legal certainty in Zimbabwe, reminds us that secure titles, transparent records, and fair registration processes are the foundation of a thriving real‑estate market,” said Thulani Sibanda, representing Willie Mushayi Chief Registrar of Deeds and Intellectual property.

“When we protect owners’ rights and ensure that every deed is accurately recorded, we build trust—trust that bridges developers, investors, and communities. This trust is the very solidarity we champion , it unites us in the pursuit of affordable housing, sustainable development, and economic growth.

“Let us, therefore, commit to upholding the integrity of the Deeds Office, to supporting one another in ethical practice, and to sharing knowledge so that every Zimbabwean can own a piece of the future with confidence,” Sibanda said.
