The deputy headmaster of Rimuka 3 High School, in Waverely, Kadoma, Shupikai Gabriel Zivanai (48), has resigned from his post amid allegations of raping a minor school girl, it can be revealed.
The alleged rape is said to have been perpetrated at the school premises just four days before the school girl was due to sit for her Zimsec 2025 final examinations.
According to the resignation letter from Zivanai,in our possession and addressed to Mhondoro-Ngezi District Schools Inspector, Zivanai said that he was resigning from the post at Rimuka 3 High School effective 4 December 2025,and that he had made the “decision after careful thought and consideration”, but gave no further further pertinent reason for leaving the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education post.
Sources close to the ongoings at Rimuka 3 High School said that Zivanai’s resignation was a way trying to evade imminent arrest on the rape allegations which were being investigated by Kadoma police.
“Zivanai has written a resignation letter to the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, through Forml Efl.92(b) stating that he was resigning from being the Deputy School Headmaster of Rimuka 3 High School in Kadoma, Mashwest but he is only trying to evade arrest but that does not stop the police from pursuing investigations,” said the source.
While Zivanai was arrested and made an initial appearance in court, trial will only commence when the rape victim has completed her exams. He is currently out.
Zivanai who is not new to controversy was in June 2025 hailed before a Mashwest Kadoma School’s District Disciplinary Commitee on charges of abuse of office after he was suspected of having a love relationship with a legally married junior at the same school.
The Disciplinary Commitee found Zivanai guilty of having a love relationship with a legally married junior officer and was given a warning.
