Zimbabweans from all walks of life are urging philanthropist Sir Wicknell to recognise Sekuru Banda, whose work in uplifting underprivileged members of the community is clear for all to see.

Speaking after Sekuru Banda, a popular traditional healer, had distributed some food hampers in Marondera worth JS$10,000 to underprivileged residents of the Cherima and Dombotombo suburbs several beneficiaries were of the view that it was high time popular philanthropist, Sir Wicknell, recognised him.

“Despite being a Muslim, Sekuru Banda has a big heart for giving. He gives freely to people in need regardless of their political, social, religious, and ethnic persuasions.

To Sekuru Banda, we are all equal before God. He is ready to help everyone in need,” said James Maposa.

Another beneficiary, Tawanda Moyo explained that the food hampers comprised rice, sugar, beans, maize meal, cooking oil, salt, and soap, among other necessities.
This is not the first time that Sekuru Banda has come to the rescue of needy people in society.

In the past, he uplifted artists who were facing difficulties during the COVID-19- induced lockdowns when gatherings were banned and shops were closed
Among the beneficiaries of Sekuru Banda’s benevolence were the late comedian Marabha, musician Paradzai Mesi, boxer Mosquito, former football legend George Shaya, and Lady Squander, to mention a few.

Sekuru Banda built a six-roomed house for the late Marabha in Epworth. He gave some groceries and medical support to George Shaya.

The popular traditional healer also provided sanitary wear to underprivileged, school-going girls in remote areas.

Due to his colourful philanthropic track record, calls are growing from community members across the country to have Sekuru Banda recognised by the likes of Sir Wicknell; ZANU PF Central Committee Member, Kuda Tagwirei; President Mnangagwa; and Presidential Investment Advisor, Dr Paul Tungwarara.
