Bus Hits Pedestrian Before Deadly Head-On Collision On Harare-Bulawayo Road

Three people died in a head-on collision between a bus and an Isuzu bakery vehicle on the Kwekwe-Kadoma road on Tuesday, 9 December.

Police confirmed that a Zhong Tong bus carrying 62 passengers, en route to Kadoma, struck a pedestrian who was walking in the middle of the road.

The impact caused the bus to swerve into the opposite lane, where it collided head-on with an Isuzu bakery truck.

The crash claimed the lives of the pedestrian, the bakery vehicle driver, and a passenger travelling with him. A statement from the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) reads:

“The ZRP confirms a fatal road traffic accident which occurred on 09/12/25 at around 0330 hours at the 156 km peg along Harare–Bulawayo Road.

“A Zhong Tong bus carrying 62 passengers and travelling towards Kadoma allegedly struck a pedestrian who was walking in the middle of the road.

“The driver then swerved onto the oncoming lane, where the bus collided head-on with an Isuzu bakery vehicle carrying one passenger and travelling towards Kwekwe.

“As a result of the crash, the two occupants of the bakery vehicle were trapped in the vehicle and died on the spot. The pedestrian also died on the spot.

“The bodies of the three victims were conveyed to Kadoma General Hospital for post-mortem examination.”
