Chivayo donates 20 luxury vehicles, US$2 million to army, police, and prisons

AS Zimbabwe celebrates it’s Unity Day, controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo has marked the commemoration by donating US$2 million in cash and 20 brand-new 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series VXR vehicles to the nation’s top security services.
The pledge is directed toward the “Cheer Funds” of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, the Zimbabwe Republic Police, and the Prisons and Correctional Service to support welfare initiatives for veterans, widows, and orphans.
Taking to his social media platforms, Chivayo said the donation is a form of a patriotic act intended to complement government efforts in supporting those who serve.
“This Day stands as a powerful reminder of our COLLECTIVE resolve to uphold PEACE and UNITY as Zimbabweans. It also reflects the enduring spirit of PATRIOTISM within the SECURITY SERVICES, especially the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, the Zimbabwe Republic Police and the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service, who have made Zimbabwe to be one of the most PEACEFUL Countries in the WORLD,” said Chivayo.
Chivayo indicated that the entire donation was approved by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, under the “Cheer Fund”.
“ZDF Commander’s Christmas Cheer Fund – 10 x 2025 Toyota Land Cruisers 300 Series VXR & USD 1,000,000 in cash.
“ZRP Commissioner General’s Cheer Fund – 5 x 2025 Toyota Land Cruisers 300 Series VXR & USD 500,000 in cash; and ZPCS Commissioner General’s Cheer Fund – 5 x 2025 Toyota Land Cruisers 300 Series VXR & USD 500,000 in cash.
“The vehicles are intended to support WELFARE-focused and operational OUTREACH programmes under the respective Cheer Funds,” said Chivayo.
The announcement follows a pattern of high-profile spending by Chivayo, whose source of wealth and close ties to the state have often drawn public scrutiny.
