Prof Smelly Dube’s year of triumph at home and abroad
River Valley Group of Companies Chief Executive Ambassador Professor Smelly Dube has ended the year 2025 on a high note at home and abroad after clinching the Zimbabwe CEO’s Network top award to complete a sweep of accolades both in Zimbabwe and Africa at large.
During the festive season, Prof Dube also held festivities in Midlands to celebrate life with community acquaintances and workers from her firm Tebekwe mine.
At the Zimbabwe CEO Network ceremony on 5 December 2025 at Meikles Hotel, Prof Dube clinched the Super Platinum winner Top CEO award for 2025
Posting on her social media handle, Prof Dube expressed her exuberance:
“Thank you ZimCeo’s Network for the honour, to top off what has been a blessed year for me. Thank you God, my wonderful family, friends, business associates and team River Valley Group”.
Only recently her prowess abroad came to light.
Prof Dube scooped the prestigious Pan African Woman of Impact Champion of Change Legacy Award from the West African Leadership Centre in Abuja, Nigeria.
Dr Olawale Owoyomi, the executive director of the organisation said the award was in recognition of Prof Dube’s sterling efforts in shaping the development trajectory in Africa.
Also in another major feat this year, Prof Dube was inducted into the 2025 Peace Achievers International hall of fame as the Most Inspiring Personality in Africa by the International Peace Achievers.
The award recognizes individuals and organizations for their contributions to peacebuilding, development, and community service in Africa for the past 15 years.
Dr Kingsley Amafibe Director of the awards said through the Rivervalley Group of Companies, Prof Smelly Dube had created opportunities, empowered communities, and set a high standard of excellence that continues to inspire many across Africa.
To cap the year in style at home, Prof Dube during this festive season extended her philanthropic hand to communities in Shurugwi and threw a surprise luncheon for workers at Tebekwe Mine where she is Chief Executive.
She gifted Shurugwi police with food hampers and grocery donations to ignite Christmas cheer.
The same gesture of goodwill was extended to the Brethren of Christ Church in Gweru where worshipers from the parish received food handouts. This is Eng Dr. Mncedisi and Amb Prof Smelly Dube’s local church where they fellowship.
At Matsika village her rural home in Shurugwi, it was another occasion of merry making when Prof Dube pitched up with a truckload of goodies for community members to spoil their families.
These developments come at a time when River Valley is now spreading its wings to Botswana and Scotland with Prof Smelly Dube also playing a more active role in supporting Government and community efforts in the fight against drug and substance abuse. This has seen the Rivervalley Group of companies donating land in Shurugwi for the construction of a Rehabilitation centre.
Through their private property development company RiverValley Properties, Prof Smelly Dube and her spouse Eng Dr. Mncedisi Dube have provided descent homes to thousands of residents in Gweru, Shurugwi and other areas after developing the high density suburb of Woodlands Park and Hertfordshire middle density surbub, and Magakooshla in Shurugwi, among others.
