ZANU-PF Youth League Deputy Political Commissar Taurai Kandishaya said that Central Committee member Kudakwashe Tagwirei has contributed US$100,000 to a new party affiliate called Former Footballers and Coaches for Economic Development (ED).
Kandishaya hosted members of the group at his farm in Murehwa, Mashonaland East, on Sunday, where the US$100,000 and other support for their upkeep were announced. He wrote on Facebook:
“Well, yesterday, in the spirit of President ED Mnangagwa’s vision, Dr Kuda Tagwirei remembered former footballers and coaches of Zimbabwe.
“They gathered in Murehwa on my farmland, where Comrade Tagwirei injected an inaugural $100,000 for their upkeep and guaranteed healthcare, among other benefits.
“Confession after confession, former footballers stood up to express the conversion of their hearts to support President Cde ED Mnangagwa again.
“President ED Mnangagwa’s message centres on development, unity, engagement, re‑engagement, and respect.
“In turn, the masses continue to persuade him to extend his term to 2030.”
Sunday Chidzambwa, the former Dynamos coach who also guided the Warriors to their first AFCON qualification in 2004, is one of the leading members of the Former Footballers and Coaches for Economic Development.
