A video circulating on social media has sparked debate after presidential adviser Paul Tungwarara openly declared that President Emmerson Mnangagwa should remain in power until 2050.

Speaking in the video, Tungwarara said, “If it was possible, President Mnangagwa should rule until 2050 because he is doing a great job.”

He went on to dismiss critics of the President, adding, “Zvaari kuita Mnangagwa zvinovengwa nemuroyi chete,” loosely translating to a claim that only those with ill intentions could oppose Mnangagwa’s actions.

Tungwarara challenged those unhappy with the President’s leadership to reconsider their stance, urging citizens to separate governance from partisan politics. “Are you not happy with the work the President is doing? Let’s put politics aside,” he said.

The remarks have since triggered mixed reactions online, with some praising Tungwarara’s loyalty while others question the implications of advocating extended rule beyond constitutional limits.
