Missing Hwange man found dead near Deka River
THE body of a 31-year-old man from Hwange District in Matabeleland North Province, who had been reported missing since Thursday last week, was discovered on Friday afternoon along the banks of the Deka River.
Washington Ncube, who was from Kasase Village in Ward 9, was found in Mwemba Village in the Kakunka area under Chief Hwange. Authorities confirmed that all body parts were intact.
Preliminary reports indicate that Ncube is believed to have been swept away by floodwaters while driving from Mashala Village to Hwange town on the day he went missing. The incident is said to have occurred at around 8pm, shortly after he had dropped off a passenger.
His vehicle was later recovered last Saturday after water levels in the river subsided, prompting continued search efforts that eventually led to the recovery of his body.
Ncube’s remains have since been retrieved and are expected to be taken for a post-mortem examination ahead of burial.
The development was confirmed by Hwange Rural District Council Ward 10 Councillor, Mr Lethukuthula Ngwenya. ZBC
