Only God’s law cannot be changed – Ziyambi says Zimbabwe Constitution will be amended for Mnangagwa’s term extension
JUSTICE Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi has declared that the Zimbabwean constitution is not sacred and will be amended to accommodate President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s attempts to hang onto power until 2030.
Speaking at the official launch of a council by-election campaign in Chegutu’s Ward 1, Ziyambi said the only set of laws that could not be changed was God’s 10 commandments whi He wrote on stone.
A faction within Zanu PF, led by what Vice President Constantino Chiwenga termed Zvigananda, is pushing for Mnangagwa to stay beyond the constitutionally mandated two terms so as to protect their interests.
Zvigananda is now a term used to describe politicians or businessmen with questionable wealth, whose source is not known and at times splash it around in the eyes of poor Zimbabweans.

“The 10 commandments were written on stone by God, they are the only laws that cannot be changed, everything else can,” said Ziyambi.
“Our constitution can be fixed and that is what we will be doing so as to ensure our inheritance.”
Fear within Zvigananda’s camp is that Chiwenga, who up until recently looked set to replace Mnangagwa, will hunt them down if he gets into office.
They fear, according to reports, that he will order them to account for their wealth and get them arrested and jailed, as some of their money has no paper trail.
Zanu PF already gave Ziyambi approval to look for avenues through which the constitution can be amended to suit Mnangagwa’s ambitions.
Constitutional law experts such as Professor Lovemore Madhuku believe amending the 2013 constitution to either lengthen the life of Zimbabwe’s 10th Parliament, or scrap the two-term limits imposed, is unlikely when considering the time needed to do all this. – _*NewZimbabwe*_
