Nine Arrested In Three Drug Busts On Thursday
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) have arrested nine suspects in separate anti-drug operations conducted on 12 February 2026, recovering large quantities of cough syrup and dagga.
In Featherstone, police officers on motorised patrol intercepted a Nissan Note (registration number AGW 8609) at Wadyiwawamira Shops and arrested four suspects for unlawful possession of 20 boxes of Broncleer cough syrup.
Those arrested are Angeline Tavengwa (44), Charity Chinyandura (45), Hamilton Nyandoro (34) and Edward Mukwesha (40).
Broncleer cough syrup has increasingly been abused as an illicit substance, prompting intensified police crackdowns across the country.
In a separate incident, police at a checkpoint along the 129-kilometre peg on the Ngundu–Tanganda Road intercepted a Toyota Probox after the occupants allegedly attempted to evade the roadblock.
The vehicle was searched, leading to the recovery of six red Shangani bags and a black travelling bag containing dagga.
Four suspects, Malvin Tafirenyika Mupambiki (30), Patrick Tafirenyika (44), Precious Charumbuka (30) and Vivian Bhanhire (47), were arrested for unlawful possession of dagga.
Meanwhile, in another operation, Timothy Mushati (30) was arrested at Mutonhodza Farm Compound in Juliasdale, Nyanga, for allegedly selling dagga. Police recovered packed sachets of the drug and rolling papers, commonly known as rizlas.
