Harare man thoroughly beats his wife after mistaking spice sachet for used condom
A HARARE man, Simbarashe Muzanenhamo, was arrested on Monday for bashing his wife after mistaking a spice sachet for a used condom.
The incident happened at their home in Mabelreign.
Simbarashe, who confirmed he was drunk at the time of the incident, confronted his wife, Fungisai Mutsambi, 23, while she was attending to their twin boys.
In a fit of rage, he used his belt to strike her repeatedly after seeing what he believed to be evidence of betrayal.
“After being away for some time, I returned to find something that looked like a used condom in the car,” Simbarashe told H-Metro.
“When I asked her about it, she responded disrespectfully, which only fuelled my anger.
“I was drunk and I lashed out.”
Fungisai filed a police report, leading to his arrest.
He has been trying to persuade his wife to withdraw the police report she filed.

However, she has remained resolute.
“My husband jumped to conclusions over a piece of paper torn from a spice sachet,” she said.
“His anger overshadowed everything and I was ruthlessly assaulted with his trouser belt all over my body.”
She added:
“I did not cheat on him, as he claimed. We should be celebrating our two-year-old twins together, not dealing with this violence.”
Simbarashe is known to be an aide to a local traditional healer. via H-metro
