Mhondoro Mbaira – A vibrant atmosphere filled the grounds of Mukono Primary School on yesterday as 36 schools from across the constituency converged for a day of sports, learning, and community spirit. The event was graced by the Member of Parliament for Mhondoro Mbaira, Honorable Chamu Chiwanza, who sponsored the top three winning schools.
“Education is the key to unlocking the potential of our young people, and I’m proud to support initiatives like this that bring our schools together and foster healthy competition,” said Honorable Chiwanza, as he handed over prizes to the top three schools: Mukono Primary, Mhondoro Primary, and Mbaira Primary.
Local resident, Mrs. Thandiwe Mugabe, echoed the MP’s sentiments, “Tinoda kukutendai, Honourable Chiwanza, for bringing this event to our community. It’s a great opportunity for our children to showcase their talents and learn from each other.”
Another community member, Mr. Joseph Ndlovu, added, “The sports tournament is a wonderful initiative, but what we really need is support for our infrastructure. The roads here are impassable during the rainy season, and it’s affecting our livelihoods.”
Taking the feedback on board, MP Chiwanza announced that he would provide 260 litres of fuel to help the community rehabilitate the eroded roads. “This is just a small contribution, but I hope it will go a long way in making our roads more accessible,” he said.
The event was attended by a multitude of villagers, who showed their appreciation for the MP’s efforts. Dr. Douglas Gwatidzo, the local headman, expressed his gratitude, “Toti mazvita, Honourable Chiwanza, for your tireless efforts in supporting our community. Your work is a testament to the vision of President Mnangagwa, who wants to see Zimbabwe become an upper-middle-income economy by 2030, leaving no one behind. Nyika Inovakwa Nevene Vacho!”
The tournament was a resounding success, with the community coming together to celebrate the achievements of their children and show appreciation for the MP’s commitment to their development.
