Citizens leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa has declared that Zimbabweans have the right to protest amid growing tensions over calls to extend President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s term in office.

In a statement released on Friday, Chamisa said, “We know we have challenges, and many are calling on us to seek a way forward.

“The regime has been exposed. It thrives on intimidating citizens.”

He urged Zimbabweans to unite, adding, “Let’s unite. We know you are curious — soon we will be on the ground.”

Chamisa emphasised the people’s constitutional rights, saying, “We have got the right to demonstrate.

“We are unrolling consultations. Zanu PF does not own this country. Mnangagwa does not own this country. Zimbabwe is not your personal property. We are on the ground.”

He also criticised ruling party officials, asserting, “Zanu PF people are now exposed — they are liars.”

The statement comes amid heightened political uncertainty, with calls for the extension of the presidential term stirring debates and public demonstrations across the country. *_-ZimEye_*
