29-year-old Man Sentenced to 18 Years for Attempting to Rape his Stepmother
A 29-year-old man from Guyu has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for attempted rape by the Gwanda Magistrates’ Court.
On February 19, 2026, the man, who lives with the victim—his stepmother—forced his way into her bedroom.
He attacked her, strangling her until she fell to the ground. He then dragged her behind the house and tried to remove her underwear.
However, she screamed, which caused him to flee.
The incident was reported to the police, leading to his arrest.
