Headmaster Arrested For Allegedly Raping 14-Year-Old Girl In Zaka

The headmaster of Mbuyamaswa Primary School in Zaka recently appeared before Zaka Magistrate Grace Tupiri on a rape charge after allegedly assaulting a 14-year-old Form 2 learner from nearby Mutevhure Secondary School.

According to TellZim News, Alexander Gwara (64), from Manhubvu Village in Chief Ndanga, Zaka, was arrested on March 5, 2026. He is charged with rape under Section 65(1) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23.

Gwara was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at Chiredzi Regional Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.

The prosecutor, David Mavenga, told the court that the incident occurred in November 2025 at around 1:20 PM.

The complainant, who resides in Chief Nhema, Zaka, had left Mutevhure Secondary School to visit her younger brother at Mbuyamaswa Primary School, accompanied by a friend.

The court heard that the complainant and her friend encountered Gwara in the schoolyard, where he allegedly asked them to fetch water from the nearest borehole, promising them US$2 for the task.

When the girls returned with the water, he gave them only one dollar and told them to collect the remaining balance the following day.

The next day at lunchtime, the complainant and her friend went to Gwara’s house at the staff cottages to collect the outstanding money.

They found Gwara at home, who gave the dollar to the complainant’s friend.

It is alleged that Gwara then told the complainant to enter the room, claiming he wanted to give her a message to deliver to her mother, while leaving her friend standing outside.

Once inside, the accused purportedly closed the door and dragged the complainant to his bedroom, covering her mouth with his right hand.

The court heard that he then used a cloth to muffle her cries and held her hands tightly before raping her.

The matter came to light on March 2, 2026, when the complainant’s mother noticed her daughter crying and scratching her private parts at night.

Upon questioning, the complainant disclosed that she was experiencing pain and revealed that she had been raped by Gwara.

The complainant’s mother took her to the police to report the incident, leading to the accused’s arrest on March 5, 2026.
