Muvevi Goes On Trial For Multiple Shootings In Hwedza

The trial of former police officer Jaison Muvevi for murder and attempted murder is set to begin at the High Court of Zimbabwe in Harare, running continuously from Monday through to Friday.

Muvevi, from Ruzane Village in Hwedza District, is accused of fatally shooting four people and attempting to kill four others during a string of violent attacks in Hwedza and Mutare in January 2023.

Among the alleged victims are Inspector Maxwell Hove, who was the officer in charge at the Zimbabwe Republic Police’s Hwedza station, Chrispen Kanerusine, a leader of an apostolic shrine and Munashe Majani, a bartender, all of whom were killed in Hwedza on the same day.

Another victim, Nyasha Round, was killed in Harare in a separate incident before the Hwedza shootings.

Muvevi was arrested shortly after crossing into Mozambique and was later returned to Zimbabwe to face trial. – _ZBC News_
