ZRP vows continued fight against rogue drivers in Zimbabwe
POLICE have reiterated that their commitment to ensure there is order on the country’s roads and streets is not negotiable.
Chief Superintendent Michael Mumanyi was speaking during the joint relaunch of the Police Client Service Charter for Harare Central District and the traffic section.
“Ladies and gentlemen, your safety is not merely our duty, it is our deepest commitment.
“Let there be no doubt, every single accident we witness is not just a statistic.
“It represents a life disrupted, a family thrown into anguish, and far too often, a precious life lost.
“This is the weight we carry and it is the reason we must remain vigilant.
“The officers are there to ensure order is maintained where chaos would otherwise reign.”
He added:
“Remember this, a road without rules becomes a river without banks. It overflows and destroys everything in its path.
“Our operations are the banks that keep the flow of our city safe.
“Our goal is simple, yet profound. We want lawful transport operations. We want roads that move smoothly.
“We want a city that is organised, safe, and truly worthy of its name—the Sunshine City.”
Chief Superintendent Mumanyi
He said police would always uphold the law.
“We are renewing a sacred promise—a promise to serve the public not with arrogance but with accountability.
“Not with indifference, but with dedication.”
“We promise to listen more. We promise to respond faster. We promise to serve better.
“Together, we can build a safer, more orderly, and more vibrant city centre.
“Together, we can make Harare a city that inspires confidence, opportunity and pride.”
Officer Commanding Harare Central District, Chief Superintendent Michael Masvivi, said policing the district requires the highest standards.
“The Central Business District is the heartbeat of our city. Like the heart that pumps life through the body, this place keeps Harare alive.
“It is the engine of commerce, the hub of activity, and the face of our nation. A city’s strength is measured by the safety of its centre. “Therefore, there is an old African proverb that guides our philosophy: ‘A shepherd does not sleep while the flock is exposed to danger.’
“In the same way, when the community sleeps, the police remain awake. Our vigilance is your peace of mind.”
He added:
“Increasingly, we have noted frauds perpetrated using digital means such as mobile phones and mobile money transactions.
“Unlawful entry and thefts, coupled by emerging crimes such as elicit dealings in drugs and substance abuse, also remain a challenge we are determined to crush.
“Allow me at this juncture to strongly warn all criminals and would-be offenders that your days are numbered. The long arm of the law will definitely catch up with you.”
