Three People Killed While Offloading Glass Panels In Workington, Harare
Three men tragically lost their lives on Wednesday afternoon after a heavy crate of glass panels collapsed on them during an offloading operation in Workington, Harare.
The fatal incident occurred at a company along Coventry Road at approximately 12 noon, when the victims were reportedly offloading a three-tonne pallet of glass from a truck. The crate is said to have suddenly given way, crushing the men and killing them on the spot.
In a statement, the Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed the incident and described it as a tragic occurrence.
“The ZRP reports a sad incident which occurred today at around 1200 hours at a company along Coventry Road, Harare. Three people died on the spot after being struck by a pallet of glass panels which they were offloading from a truck. More details will be released in due course,” the police said.
Authorities are expected to conduct further investigations to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the accident, including whether proper safety procedures were followed during the offloading process.
The incident has raised concerns over workplace safety, particularly in industries involving heavy materials and manual handling operations.
